Beverly M. Burgdorf
Beverly Maybank Burgdorf is the Artist-in-Residence and co-owner of Colonial Folk Art Studio & Gallery in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Her work has spanned from designing a pioneering line of children’s clothing to creating outstanding ceramics and innovative mixed media pieces.
A graduate of Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C., with a major in Studio Art and minor in Art History, Beverly has been an active artist for more than 25 years.
Immediately after college, she ran a gallery in Columbia, S.C., and eventually began teaching art in a parochial school. All the while, she continued producing art in different media.
In 2004, the military brought Beverly and her family to the Williamsburg area where she became a full-time artist, stay-at-home-mom, and volunteer.
As the Artist-in-Residence, Beverly teaches most classes and uses the studio as her studio. This allows her to continue to work with other artists in the open studio – a place for sharing techniques and ideas.
Her work is in private collections throughout the Southeast and she has been featured in various articles about her and her art.
